What changed from Classic?
The table above counts every talent in the Forever client against Classic Era: new talents do not exist in Classic, changed talents keep the name but have different effects or ranks. Blizzard’s Deep Dive also describes unified hit and critical-strike stats, revised item rewards and more room for hybrid roles, so old gear lists need rechecking.
September 24 changes by class
This is an action-focused digest of confirmed examples, not a reproduction of the complete patch log.
| Class | Confirmed example | What to check in your play |
|---|---|---|
| Druid | Mangle renamed Primal Bite after its signature debuff was removed | Update ability names in your notes and compare current tooltips |
| Hunter | Tame Beast no longer works on beasts above the Hunter’s level | Choose a valid target before diagnosing a taming failure |
| Mage | Arcane Missiles checks line of sight at the start of the channel | Re-evaluate behavior when a target moves behind cover |
| Paladin | Several Consecration targeting and vertical-position issues fixed | Recheck problematic pulls rather than assuming the old bug persists |
| Priest | Power Word: Shield can replace an existing shield when Weakened Soul is absent | Read the target’s state before interpreting an overwrite |
| Rogue | Sap correctly flags the Rogue when used against a PvP-flagged target | Consider flagging consequences before using it |
| Shaman | Multiple totem stacking interactions corrected | Do not build a rotation around unintended stacking |
| Warlock | Life Tap tooltip clarified; Voidwalker Sacrifice scaling corrected | Recheck the current ability text and pet behavior |
| Warrior | Sunder Armor threat values corrected; Protection position swap announced | Check live positions before copying a Protection build |
The notes announced a swap between Bastion and Focused Rage. In client build 70009 Bastion sits in row 5 and Focused Rage in row 6 of the Protection tree, and the Warrior talent calculator uses those positions.
Talent resets and leveling
The notes describe a temporary beta respecialization cost that returns to one silver after an hour following a reset. This is explicitly a testing provision; do not turn it into a full-release pricing claim. Read the live confirmation before spending currency.
The log also explains changes intended to improve talent progression while leveling. That is distinct from promising stronger maximum-level performance. If you follow a saved build, compare its talent positions and version before copying it into the current client.
Righteous Fury: conflicting numbers
The September 24 notes describe the Righteous Fury change as an increase while listing values from 90% to 60%, so the direction is unclear from the notes alone. In the client data, the Paladin talent Improved Righteous Fury reduces damage taken by 2/4/6% while Righteous Fury is active.
How to use older build advice
Check the publication date, game branch and beta build first. Search the latest official notes for the affected spell and verify the current tooltip. If the recommendation depends on a bug, an old talent position or removed stacking, revisit the reasoning instead of simply substituting a new number. Load the build into the talent calculator: links made for an older client build are converted automatically and any talents that moved or disappeared are refunded.
